Ellie and her friends came to 2nd grade to buy a cookbook. One of these friends is a big sister to one of our 2nd graders! When Ellie wanted to make cookies for her classmates leading up to break, she of course pulled out our 2nd grade cookbook and tried out Bristol C.'s Sugar Cookies. They turned out beautiful, and Ellie said her classmates loved them!
The students were so excited to get our holiday party started yesterday! They couldn't wait to exchange gifts with a classmate! Once they opened, they enjoyed sharing what they got with each other. I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday!
December is a fun month in 2nd grade for many reasons, and one of the top reasons is our letter writing unit! Once we learn how to write our letters, we put our mailbox outside our door and start sending out mail! As the students write their letters each day, they sign up for conferences to review their letters with me before sending them out the door. Each day we have two students deliver mail, and they receive their letters in the classroom that have arrived for them in our mailbox. This unit is so motivating for the students to work on their writing skills!
We ended our day by working on a holiday art project. It is so fun to turn on holiday music, sing along, and paint! It is especially fun with this fantastic group of 2nd graders! Wishing everyone a safe evening!
Last week we created posters to advertise our cookbooks. The students needed to include what was for sale, how much, where to buy it, and when. On Wednesday the 2nd graders put up their posters throughout the school. We've already had eager customers stopping by our room! We are so excited to officially start selling on Monday!
This time of the year sure is magical in 2nd grade! The students were so excited for their holiday concert. We finished up some holiday reindeer just in time to add some decoration around our room. The students did a great job at the concert!
